The item was initially not permanently on sale, but has been a permanent part of the McDonald's Germany range since the early 1990s. In 1990 a variant of this burger was sold by McDonald's in Germany for the first time with sliced lettuce and tomato slices under the name "Hamburger Royal TS", whereby the abbreviation TS is intended to indicate these ingredients. In the 1980s it was renamed "Hamburger Royal". The version of the "Quarter Pounder" available at McDonald's in English-speaking countries was initially marketed in German-speaking countries under the name "Quarter Pounder". The Hamburger Royal TS is a variant of the hamburger that is produced and sold at McDonald’s in some European countries, mainly Germany.
